GAA activity placed in cold storage until Easter

THERE will be no return to collective training or matches within the GAA until Easter at the earliest, according to reports emerging tonight.

County Boards have been informed that the GAA isn’t granted an exemption under current regulations as it doesn’t hold ‘elite status’, which wasn’t the case in 2020.

It had been anticipated that the intercounty season would commence in late March, but as things stand, it looks like the matches won’t return until late April or May.

The news also raises the possibility that there will be another club-first season. Alternatively, the national leagues could be scrapped in order that the championship could run off as scheduled.
